From artificial intelligence and immersive experiences to expanded forms of storytelling and the latest developments in audiovisual creation, new media technologies are rapidly reshaping the future of cinema. This discussion explores how filmmakers, artists, and curators are engaging with emerging technologies and what they mean for the future of the moving image, across both cinema and expanded moving-image practices, including performance, VR, XR, AI-driven creation, and other emerging formats.

The panel also highlights EKKOMEΔ’s growing commitment to this field through new funding programmes and initiatives that support innovation, experimentation, and the development of new media projects.

Featuring Sarnt Utamachote, a filmmaker and curator working across cinema and contemporary moving-image practices; Yannis Briki, filmmaker; and Evi Stamou, filmmaker, whose work engages with new media technologies and expanded cinematic forms.
