Anafi International Film Festival 2026

HOW SOON IS NOW?

Anafi International Film Festival opens its call for short films for its 4th edition, inviting works that engage with the present not as a theme to be explained, but as a condition to be inhabited. In a time of acceleration, instability, and constant recalibration, the present feels fragmented, urgent, and often exhausted. We are interested in films that remain attentive to this state, works shaped by the tensions, contradictions, and uncertainties of the now.

We welcome fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental films that blur genres, challenge form, and take risks. We are drawn to works that register the friction between the personal and the political, explore shifting notions of home and belonging, trace bodies moving through unstable landscapes, and observe environments marked by memory, silence, or conflict. Rather than offering answers, this programme values presence, attentiveness, and a willingness to remain with complexity.

AnafiFF takes place in June on the Cycladic island of Anafi, with outdoor screenings across the island, alongside talks, workshops, and communal gatherings. The festival fosters meaningful exchange between filmmakers, audiences, and the local community, creating space for encounter, experimentation, and shared experience.

If your film is rooted in the present and responds to the world as it unfolds, we look forward to encountering it.
